Fiestas in Spain – Something you have to see
It’s well-known fact that Spaniards know how to make fun.
Spain has become one of the most popular tourist destinations not just because of the nice climate but also because it’s a country of many sights – historical and architectural and a country that offers tourists lots of attractions and entertainments.
Fiestas in Spain are another thing that tourists definitely would enjoy
seeing.
Except the multi national holidays in Spain they have typical Spanish holidays called Fiestas. Some of them are national fiestas, others are local fiestas which means that all cities even small towns have their own holidays.
Do not expect that Spaniards will work during fiestas
, everything will be closed, because fiestas in Spain are something very important and Spaniards spend lots of time in advance on preparations for their fiestas. This includes decorating the streets, preparing the costumes they will wear and even rehearsing before fiestas.
If you go on holiday in Spain and there is a fiesta do not miss the chance to join because Spanish fiestas are definitely something you have to see! It’s an amazing spectacle and an impressive attraction that combines street parades where you can see variety of fabulous costumes, music and dances. In many towns Spaniards even perform historical events by re-creating everything as it was in the ancient times.
I had the possibility to see one of the popular Spanish fiestas “Moros y Christians” in English it’s (“Moslems and Christians”) and I must say it was something that I have never seen before.
The fiesta was three days – the first day there were two street parades: Christians in the morning and Moros in the afternoon.

I thought that probably all people in the town participated in the fiesta because almost all were wearing different costumes or playing in their orchestras. Their costumes looked really imposing, the music and dances were spectacular.
The second day they re-created battles between Moslems and Christians as they were when they were fighting for their town, there was even a built castle which moslems occupied and after that christians took back again.
It’s really amazing how many efforts, Spaniards put to make these spectacular Fiestas and how they keep their traditions and history live.
If you have the possibility to visit Spain and see some of their Fiestas, I’m sure it will be something you admire and enjoy and something you will keep in your memory for long time.
